The importance of learning from a Certified Teacher

While there are many practices described by the word “meditation,” the
Transcendental Meditation technique is distinct from all other meditation practices,
and is the only program whose benefits have been verified by over 600 scientific
research studies. more

In the United States, the Transcendental Meditation technique is taught through the Maharishi Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Maharishi Foundation certified teachers of the TM technique not only have many years of experience practicing the technique, they have also successfully completed an intensive 5 month in-residence Teacher Training Course, developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the TM program, and maintain their certification through ongoing professional courses for TM teachers.

Only by learning the Transcendental Meditation program from a Maharishi Foundation certified teacher can you be assured of receiving the authentic Transcendental Meditation technique and gaining access to all the advanced programs of knowledge and experience that have been structured for your benefit by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Valerie JanLois

Valerie JanLois

Valerie JanLois learned TM in 1974 when she was touring New England as a solo musician and with the Northern Lights Band. Music had always been her main focus, mostly because she felt real happiness only when she was singing. Learning TM was a revelation; she began to experience a rich fulfillment and joy in the smallest things and happiness became the norm rather than associated with just one activity.

Ten years passed and a desire to teach TM that had begun to germinate on that day in 1974 came to fruition when Valerie became a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program. Valerie earned a doctorate at Maharishi University of Management and taught hundreds of people in New York before relocating to the Bay Area where she’s been happily teaching TM for nearly 25 years.

“You could say teaching TM is my way of giving back but you know the old saying – ‘The teacher gets more than the student’ – and in the case of the TM teacher, this is profoundly true.”
