PBS to Air TM Benefit Concert Headlined by Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr

The historic, star-studded benefit concert featuring a reunion of former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, which was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in April 2009, has now been edited into a 90-minute video and is airing on PBS affiliate stations nationwide during the next two months.

The first broadcast was on New York City’s channel THIRTEEN station on April 29.

The “Change Begins Within” concert benefitted the David Lynch Foundation, a charity that provides funding for at risk populations to learn the Transcendental Meditation technique, including underserved inner-city school children, veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, and women and girls who suffer from domestic abuse and violence.

With the help of this concert and other benefit events over the past seven years, the David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships for more than 250,000 people-in-need to learn TM.

McCartney and Starr join together on stage for a finale of “With A Little Help from My Friends,” Paul’s rarely performed “Cosmically Conscious,” and Beatles fan favorite “I Saw Her Standing There.”

A number of other meditating entertainers performed at the concert. Also appearing in the video are comedian Jerry Seinfeld as well as musicians Sheryl Crow (“My Sweet Lord”); Eddie Vedder and Ben Harper (“Under Pressure”); Moby and Betty LaVette (“Natural Blues”); Paul Horn, and newly-elected Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Famer Donovan, and Jim James (“Hurdy Gurdy Man”).
