These Children Are Struggling To Survive Within The School System. The Be You Program Found A Way To Help

On the first day of their pilot project, co-founders Kitty de la Beche and Ricky Reemer told the students of the West Sussex Alternative Provision College, “Our goal is that each of you recognize the precious nature of who you really are and the immense opportunity that is your life. And that you develop a passion and confidence to go for what you want and to be who you are.” As part of the program, students and teachers learned the Transcendental Meditation technique. Hear from the program founders, the school administrators, and the students in the video below!

The Video: Introducing the Be You Program, founded on September 5, 2012. The UK-based, nonprofit organization’s mission is “to transform the lives and prospects of young people who struggle to fulfil their potential within the school system by teaching them valuable life skills and techniques.” Directed by Nicolai Fischer, produced by Kitty de la Beche. The Technique: Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced twenty minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. It is easy to learn and enjoyable to practice and is not a religion, philosophy, or lifestyle. Over six million people have learned it — people of all ages, cultures, and religions — and over 380 published, peer-reviewed research studies have found that the TM technique significantly reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue, and promotes balanced functioning of mind and body.
